National Assembly Roof Leaks After An Early Morning Rain, Sitting Of Senators Delayed

It was an embarrassing day in the Nigeria National Assembly after the roof of the building leaked during a downpour.

According to a report from the Punch News, rain had fallen in the early hours of Tuesday which led to the roof leaking with water splashing to the lobby.

Other places affected by the leaking roof included the Press Center in the Senate wing, as the water splashed to the area.

Recall that N37bn was approved by the leadership of the National Assembly in 2020 to renovate the building which was built about to 27 years ago.

The money had caused uproar in the country, however whether the work has been done could not immediately be determined.

Pictures shared by the news outlet shows the moment cleaners of the assembly were trying to scoop the water and keep the place clean.

It was further reported that the development had led to a delay in sitting of the senators, who had resumed for legislative duties on Tuesday after a week break.
