The President of the Nigerian Senate Dr. Ahmad Lawan, has appealed for restraint on the part of those calling for revenge on the gruesome murder of the Chieftain of the All Progressive Congress APC Ahmed Gulak in Owerri, Imo State.

Gulak, a former Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly was shut to death by unknown gunmen on Sunday in Oweri, Imo State.

However, rather going for revenge, Lawan said individuals and groups of people should allow the relevant authorities to serve justice In the matter, noting that the injury of the crime was inflicted on Nigeria as a whole.

The Senate President, while condemning the killing, maintained that there can be no justification for the brutal murder of a human being and fellow citizen.

He commiserated with the family and friends of the departed as well as the government and people of Adamawa State on the incident.

Sunshine Fans Lament Club’s Poor Form.

Fans of Sunshine Stars have lamented the club’s poor form in the 2020/21 season of the Nigeria Professional Football League.

The Akure-based side have not won any of their last 17 games – their last victory coming against Enugu Rangers January 31.

Speaking with our correspondent on Monday, Chairman of the club’s supporters club, Felix Oluwa, said the poor form can be attributed to the non-payment of salaries of players and officials.

The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, on Monday, noted that people calling for the scrapping of the National Youth Service Corps scheme does not mean well for Nigeria.

The monarch stated this in his palace, when the Batch A, Stream 2 corps members currently undergoing orientation exercise paid him a courtesy visit.

The Sultan disclosed that the NYSC scheme was established to foster unity among Nigerian youths.

Kano Reviews State Master Plan To Facilitate Industrial Growth ― Ganduje.

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State says the state government has revised the state Master Plan, which was last retouched 35 years ago, as part of a deliberate attempt to accelerate industrial growth and development of the state.

Ganduje in a statement by his Director-General, Media and Publicity, Ameen K. Yassar said in this regard, areas of potential hold-ups were identified, leading to the construction of interchanges, in addition to investment in roads construction, to ease transportation and reduce the time and cost of doing business.

The Governor said his administration has adopted a multi-sectoral approach to fast-track industrial development including huge investment in security management, water supply, roads, light rail, and the health sector, pointing out that the vision was to take Kano to the center of developmental activities.

Edo PDP to Ize-Iyamu: Keep your congratulatory message to yourself.

Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has rejected the congratulatory message sent to the state Governor, Godwin Obaseki, by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the September 19, 2020 governorship election in the state, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

Ize-Iyamu had in a letter to the Governor on Monday, May 31, 2021, surrendered to Obaseki and congratulated him.

But, the Edo PDP in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Chris Nehikhare, rubbished Ize-Iyamu’s message, accusing him of making demands after his unwarranted, unnecessary, mindless and malicious court cases have collapsed.
