Once Again, Babajide Sanwolu Makes Lagos State A Safer Place For Lagosians

Lagos State has made a tremendous stride towards improving security in all nook and crannies of the State, with the introduction of State Community Policing Advisory Committee (SCPAC) and its Operations department, State Community Policing Committee (SCPC). 

SCPAC, which is co-led by the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hakeem Odumosu, and director of Council of Obas and Chiefs in Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, will be the caretaker of the activity and it is to keep up most elevated level of oversight on network policing in the State. 

Govenor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who was present and the official swearing in ceremony of members in the two committes calling attention to that the occasion denoted that it was a huge win in the Government's roadmap to re-strategise and reevaluate the security apparatus through utilizing Community Policing Initiative.

The idea of this community policing was borne by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Muhammed Abubakar Adamu. Upon conception, the IGP Abubakar drafted the plan to place extentd the security of lives in properties to selected trained individuals in the community, who would work in collaboration with the Police Force to ensure adequate security in communities.

The Governor stated, that the proposed community policing is has been procrastinated for far too long hence it's inception, including that the change is being actualized with the goal to address deficiencies of the current policing model, which, he stated, had neglected to incorporate individuals from nearby community and neighborhoods in information sharing and insight assembling that could help in stopped violations from the beginning. 

SCPAC, then again, will be answerable for overseeing and organizing the State-level tasks of the community policing project, and it will, among different capacities, help recognize security dangers in networks and work with the police and the Community Police Officers (CPOs) in developing suitable systems for tending to them.
