Check Out Two Strong Reasons Why Rabiu Kwankwaso Could Return to APC Before the 2023 Election

In the last few months, there has been a lot of defection rumour swirling around the political camp of former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso. People have been speculating that he is on his way back to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The rumour has grown as the 2023 election draws near. Even some of his close associates have been left confused by the reports which have lingered.

Kwankwaso himself has not helped matters with some of his recent moves. First, he has committed to reconciling with one of his avowed political foes- the Governor of Kano State Ganduje. Both political leaders used to be close friends until a few years ago when they fell out spectacularly. Their public altercations heated the political environment in Kano State leading to several violent confrontations. As a result of their conflict, Kwankwaso and his loyalists decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party.

But their recent romance has come as a shock to many political observers. According to a report in Daily Telegraph, the two politicians have agreed to sheath their swords and work together for the common interest of the Kano people.

The reconciliation meeting which was at the instance of some APC governors from the North and South-East states took place at Kano State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja. The report also noted that Kwankwaso didn’t just agree to the peace meeting, he also accepted to support Ganduje and help him enjoy a smooth conclusion to his administration.

Another recent indication that Kwankwaso could be on his way back to APC is his recent comment on the PDP. The former Kano Governor who has been quiet for a long while recently lambasted the PDP and stressed that the party could be ruined by its present crisis.

Speaking in an interview with BBC, he blamed the leadership of the party for the crisis, adding that PDP has been weakened and could be torn apart before 2023.

This is uncharacteristic coming from Kwankwaso and it has strengthened the report that he could be on his way back to the APC.

However, Kwankwaso, who is rumoured to be eyeing the Presidency, has denied the report that he could rejoin the APC.

There is another angle to the report, which is the fact Kwankwaso could be deliberately stocking the rumour to boost his political value in PDP and bargain his way to the party’s presidential ticket. This speculation has been made by some analysts, who feared that the former Kano State Governor has fallen considerably in the pecking order in PDP.

Could this be the real reason why the Kwankwaso rumour has refused to go away? Only time will tell.
