Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike
The Governor who made these accusations during the Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, in Port Harcourt alleged that the Federal Government is currently using the devious approach of tagging opposition voices as security risks, while using the Immigration Authority to seize their passports without any prior court order. Also, Wike alleged that the Federal Government and its security personnel have continued to violate the rights of the Nigerian citizenry through unlawful arrests and imprisonment.
In line with the above, the Rivers state governor pointed at the alleged violation of the right to peaceful protests as well as the indiscriminate midnight assaults of Judges, individuals by the FG to buttress his claims. To the Governor, the current central administration has violated with impunity the personal liberties of the Nigerian citizenry.
