The Suit Seeking The Removal of Governor Hope Uzodinma Could Be The Next Tale of David And Goliath

The new legal Move to remove the incumbent governor of Imo State could be the next tale of David and Goliath as told in the Bible. Recall that recently, the candidate of Reform and Advancement Party (RAP) approached the federal high court for a judicial interpretation of the APC primaries judgement between Uche Nwosu and Hope Uzodinma where the Supreme Court ruled that Uche Nwosu is the authentic candidate of APC, leaving Senator Hope Uzodinma with no party.

It should be noted that the Supreme Court judgement Honourable Emeka Ihedioha of the PDP and Senator Hope Uzodinma which saw the removal of Emeka Ihedioha from office as the Governor of Imo State was based on the claim that Senator Hope Uzodinma contested the election under APC. This however, is in contradiction of the earlier judgement by the same Supreme Court which affirmed Uche Nwosu as the duly nominated candidate of the APC for the 2019 Governorship election in Imo State.

Following the failed attempt by PDP and Emeka Ihedioha through a judicial review, and the recent approach to the Federal High Court for a judicial interpretation by Barrister Kingdom Okere, the battle to remove Governor Hope Uzodinma could be likened to the biblical battle between David and Goliath should Okere succeed. This is because Barrister Okere who contested the election under the Reform and Advancement Party (RAP) may successfully achieve a goal that the PDP and Honourable Emeka Ihedioha with their abundance resources could not achieve.

Whatever the case will be, we will get to know in due time. Although some people are of the opinion that the suit is nothing but a mere distraction, while others believe that the case if taken lightly by the governor, has the potential to see him removed from office. We cannot say for sure, what the outcome will be, but one thing is clear here. That is, there is a contradiction that needs to be clarified and we hope to see how the court will interpret the judgement as prayed to by Barrister Kingdom Okere.
