The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has finally released the names of political candidates, for the upcoming Edo state election, slated for September 19th.
The list published indicates that, the chances of substituting names of candidates by any political party, has been closed.
Osagie Ize-Iyamu, who is the All Progressives Congress candidate and Governor Godwin Obaseki of the People's Democratic Party, were among the duly recognised flagbearers of their political parties.
The electoral body made this known today, 18th of July , through a statement by Festus Okoye, who is a commissioner with the body, saying that, the names of the flagbearers of the various parties, have already been published in its office, in Edo state.
The electoral body further stated that, with the final list published, no party will be able to substitute, to the names already submitted.
The two major contestants are candidates of the APC and PDP, who were principal contestants in the last election, that brought in, the incumbent Governor of the state.
