Buhari to address Nigerians Saturday:

President Muhammadu Buhari will on Saturday address Nigerians on this year’s Democracy Day.

A terse statement issued by Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity and obtained by PlatinumPost on Friday evening, said Buhari would give his address in a national broadcast at 7:00am.

“To commemorate Nigeria’s Democracy Day, June 12, 2021, President Muhammadu Buhari will address the nation on Saturday June 12, 2021, at 7am.

Twitter not sincere in resolving suspension – Lai Mohammed:

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohamed, says Twitter is not sincere in resolving the issue leading to its suspension in Nigeria.

Lai Mohammed on Friday while speaking on Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) programme “Good Morning Nigeria’’ said Twitter is showing little enthusiasm toward the dialogue it initiated to resolve issues leading to suspension of its operations.

The minister said “I think there is a tepid approach by Twitter.

UK warns citizens of violence:

The United Kingdom has warned its citizens of a possible outbreak of violence in Nigeria as the country celebrates its Democracy Day on Saturday.

It gave the warning in its latest travel advisory published on its website on Friday.

The advisory read, “On 12 June, protests over insecurity are planned in multiple locations, including large cities.

“You should remain vigilant, avoid demonstrations, protests or large gatherings and pay attention to local media and social media reports on protest locations.”
