The report reads "Federal Government is plotting the arrest of the Yoruba Nation arrowhead, Prof Banji Akintoye, Sunday PUNCH has learned. It was reliably gathered that the octogenarian professor of history has since left Nigeria for the neighboring Benin Republic to escape the plot for his arrest. The regime of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has in recent months turned maddening heat on separatists".
It is a known fact that the President wants a United Nigeria and anyone who wants to break the nation is seen as an enemy of his government.

Stephen Adebanji Akintoye, also known as S. Banji Akintoye (born 1935), is a Nigerian-born academic, historian, and writer. He taught at the History Department at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria, where he became a professor and Director of the Institute of African Studies from 1974-1977.
“He was born in Ado-Ekiti in the Palace of the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti – on the “right” hand from the palace of Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, and on the “left” hand from the family of the High Chief 'Osolo' of Ado-Ekiti. His father was Chief James Akintoye, the Osolo of Ado-Ekiti.
