The opposition party may soon encounter a problem concerning the just concluded national convention of the party ahead of the year twenty twenty-three presidential election. The leaders of the opposition party have been trying to eradicate any form of disunity among the top members of the party ahead of the upcoming presidential election. When there are many crises, there would be chances for defection. Obviously, the leaders of the opposition party in the country will not want any form of crisis that will lead to the defection of a party member in the country.

To solve the upcoming problem, the newly elected leaders of the party must be prepared to welcome the problem that may soon surface itself with time. If the national chairman of the party and other top members of the party are ready to welcome and confront the upcoming challenge that they must soon face, it will not be hard for them to solve the problem no matter how difficult and challenging they are.

What Is The Problem?

The deposed national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus has kicked against the verdict given by the Court of Appeal, Port Harcourt Division. Prince Uche Secondus has previously approached the Federal Court of Appeal in other to vindicate himself of the accusation that he was confronted with. Some top members reported Prince Uche Secondus at his ward level that he engaged in many anti-party activities, and he was removed as the chairman of the party.

Secondus took the case to the Court of Appeal, Port Harcourt Division where he had hoped to be favoured. After the verdict of the appeal court in Port Harcourt, Prince Uche Secondus heads to the Supreme Court of the country. The Supreme Court is the highest decision-making court of law in the country because no institution can overrule its judgement when it gives one. Prince Uche Secondus has asked the Supreme Court of the country to nullify the last national convention of the party.

Prince Uche Secondus stated that he is still the national chairman of the party and the leaders of the party are not allowed to elect another national chairman of the party in his absentia. With this view, he asked the Supreme Court to restore him and nullify the just concluded national convention of the party. It will be a problem for the opposition party if the Supreme Court gives the verdict that the embattled national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) should be reinstated. Where to put the newly elected members of the National Executive Council (NEC) and how to reinstall Prince Uche Secondus will become another problem for PDP to face.
