American musician and businessman Mogul Jay Z and his wife visited Nigeria in 2006. The couple were invited to visit and tour their country by the then Governor of Kwara, Bukola Saraki. The former governor also named a street after the singer, and was also given the title "Sarkin Waka Ilorin".
The couple spent a few days in Nigeria and did a lot of philanthropy before leaving the country. They also met other Nigerian figures, including the Emir of Ilorin named Alhaji Ibrahim Gambari.
American singer Tony Braxton visited Nigeria in 2019. She said she enjoyed her time in the beautiful country and also praised the local music, naming Teni the Entertainer as her favorite Nigerian musician. According to reliable sources, Tony Braxton had the opportunity to meet with political leaders during her visit.
She met former Minister of Information and Culture Lai Mohammed and Godwin Emefiele, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, at an event. After leaving the country, she said that Nigeria was a beautiful place and she would definitely visit it again.
