President Buhari Appoints Dr Joe Abah Into Key Position.
President Muhammad Buhari has appointed Dr. Joe Abah, an Igbo man from Ebonyi State into the Steering Committee to drive Digital Identification.
This new appointment was revealed to the public on Friday evening by Dr. Joe Abah himself through his Twitter handle.
The popular figure confirmed his appointment, stating that the committee is headed by the Secretary to the Government of Federation, Boss Mustapha, and the task of the committee is to give all Nigerians a digital identity within five years.
The committee will integrate other data that the government holds, likes bank verification number, driver's license, and passport the National Identification Number.
The task given to the committee is long overdue if many countries like India can do it, why can't Nigeria do it.
Dr. Joe Abah is a popular figure with a wealth of experience in governance, institutional reforms, public policy, political economy, and many more.
His appointment into the committee by President Muhammad Buhari is the right decision at the right time. I'm very certain that he will perform effectively.
His appointment into the position also shows that President Buhari loves the Igbo and he belongs to everyone and belongs to nobody.
Nigerians have reacted differently to the appointment of Dr. Abah into the powerful Committee. See their reactions below.
"I want to congratulate you on this sir, but I don’t know if congratulations are in order for a job that will increase your gray hair. I’ll rather pray for you, that the forces of rocket science will fall asleep when your good work is being implemented. Amen."
"Congratulations sir. Please doc. Some of us who are not in the country at the moment, how do we get an international driving license? Can you assist?"
"I congratulate the Nigerian government for seeing the value in you and I commiserate with you for the burden of responsibility put on you in a very difficult country. I wish you all the best Sir! We pray for your success!"
"Congrats. This is long overdue tbh. With you there (plus others), I believe it will finally get done."
"I am glad to hear this. Firstly I congratulate you, secondly this is a committee that is set up to do something significant that is very dear to my heart. I pray that you succeed. May the forces go with you and may the lines fall unto you in pleasant places."
"Congratulations, Doc on this challenging task. This is long overdue. If India can do it, we can too."
What do you think about this?
Can the committee meet up with the task?
