According to reports, the new appointment was approved by President Buhari, and will last for the next five years.
Meanwhile in another report, the NBC has directed all broadcast stations and social media platforms to obtain and apply for license before carrying out their operations in Nigeria.
The order was released on Thursday 10, June, and signed by the NBC's former director-general, Armstrong Idachaba.
According to the commission, any broadcast station or online platform that fails to obtain the NBC's license will be considered illegal in Nigeria.
" The National Broadcasting Commission hereby every online broadcast service provider and social media platforms operating within Nigeria to apply and obtain broadcast license for their services"
Idachaba explained that the NBC will be responsible for receiving, processing and considering establishment of broadcast stations in Nigeria.

The announcement was made by the NBC'S head of public affairs, Ekanem Anita, in Abuja.

The federal government on Wednesday 9 June, announced that the ban imposed on Twitter can only be reversed if the Twitter company is duly registered, licensed and carries out its operations within the rules and regulations stated in Nigeria. Lai Muhammed disclosed this after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the state house in Abuja.
