Peaceful protest in Uyo turns violent as protesters attempt burning down Access bank(photos)

The #endsars protest in Uyo today was at first a peaceful demonstration before chaos erupted out of thin air.

The protesters today started their journey from Plaza, a business hub in Uyo before blocking the junction of Anua street beside Central Supermarket, Uyo so as to enable their fellow youths with bus and speakers driving past that area while some moved with their legs holding placards with several write-ups, like; #endsars #endbadgovernance #endpolicebrutality etc.

The demonstrators were headed for a very popular Secretariat in Uyo, Idongesit Nkanga Secretariat as they went there and protested for several hours and causing traffic jam and vehicles weekend other routes to continue their journey.

At about 4pm those protesters, which constituted mostly of young men were seen moving back to Plaza. 30 minutes later, there was an unconfirmed report of a protester being shot by a police man and protesters began Vandalizing people's properties, and setting up fire at strategic roads in the state.

The protesters moved over to Access bank and had already began Vandalizing properties around the bank with a plan to set it ablaze, but for the timely intervention of some armed Soldiers and the boys moved over to other locations like prisons.All business premises like Supermarkets in Uyo, Akwa-Ibom state have currently closed for the day to avoid any attack from the protesters.
