The Attorney-General of the Federation, Mr Abubakar Malami has dismissed his involvement in the House of Representatives Committee investigation on over $2.4B dollars in oil revenue.
According to reports, 48 million barrels of crude oil were illegally exported in 2015, in addition to the crude oil exported from 2014 through the present.
Malami asserted that the committee's investigation was unnecessary because it had nothing to do with his position or character.
The committee invited the Minister on multiple occasions, but each time the invitation was declined. On May 24, the committee reissued a summons against the Minister.
The minister was called, according to Rep. Mark Gbillah, Chairman of the Committee, to shed light on current concerns involving his office's role in receipt authorisation and general payment remitted over the subject.
Malami had earlier claimed that the matter as raised by the whistleblower leading to his involvement was baseless and lacking in substance.
