On Thursday, the 16th day of July, 2020, the founder and general overseer of Living Faith Church, aka Winners Chapel International has taken to his Twitter handle to make heavy statements on the concept of tithing. The powerful man of God remarked on how that tithing is an inescapable covenant obligation. And further went on to state that there is no possibility of prosperity or wealth without tithing. According to the post, God's servant, Bishop David Oyedepo was of the view that "when you're not paying your tithe, you're under a financial curse."
However, the insightful comments about tithing sparked off wonderful reactions and suicidal media being what it is, some were in agreement, others against the view.
A certain Twitter user by the account name, "The Polymath" came from the view point that "Tithing is a church sponsored ponzi scheme" and it does not create wealth. And his otherwise opposing view as clearly stated in his reply, "Wealth creation occurs when you deploy capital to create value".
Another person with the user account name, Olaudah Equiano aired his opinion from the standpoint that the messages on tithing and sowing of seeds should be left now. And probably because, since the country is corrupt, emphasis should be on "salvation, repentance and virtue".
Ayo Sogunro, yet smoother user replied on the basis of the fact that "there are countries with majority non-Christian population without any financial curse".
