1) Insecurity: PDP Asks Buhari To Resign Over ‘Wait On God’ Statement

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has condemned President Muhammadu Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, for saying only God can resolve the insecurity challenges in the country.

PDP’s spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan said Adesina’s comment has exposed Buhari’s government as completely helpless and incompetent.

Adesina had said Nigerians should handover the insecurity issues in the country to God.

Reacting, PDP said Adesina’s remark was an admission of Buhari’s failure.

A statement by Ologbondiyan said: Buhari administration is “completely helpless and has come to its wits end in governance; a development, which validates the position of majority of Nigerians that President Buhari is grossly incompetent and should step aside.

“It further goes to confirm that the Buhari’s administration has outlived its usefulness, if it had any, and that the promises and assurances made by President Buhari, on the fight against insecurity amount to mere lip service.

“While we believe in the powers and interventions of God, our party restates that such comes with the commitment, determination and show of responsibility on the part of those in leadership positions; an obligation in which the Buhari Presidency has completely failed.

2)Some Boko Haram Members Are Christians, White Men, Asians – Borno Governor, Zulum

The governor attributed insurgency and banditry in the country to high unemployment rate, poverty, and drug abuse, urging Nigerians to shun nepotism, tribalism and the idea of using religion to cause division.

The Governor of Borno State, Prof Babagana Zulum, has called on Nigerians to stop seeing the insurgency in the northeastern states of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa as a northern problem but a challenge that affects everyone.

Zulum made this known at the 17th Chief Gani Fawehinmi Annual Lecture organised by the Nigerian Bar Association, Ikeja branch on Friday

3) Finance Act: Disquiet As FG Targets N850b From Dormant Accounts

The recently signed Finance Act, which empowers the federal government to help itself to a loan of N850 billion naira from dormant accounts and unclaimed dividends, is creating concerns amongst Nigerians.

Through the Act, the federal government is targeting some N850bn from the said funds. It could be more as the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed said that the figure is still being computed but N850bn is within sight.

“There would be as much as N850 billion. We have to get the exact report from the CBN and then Company’s Registrar to ascertain that so it could be realised into this special trust fund for unclaimed dividends and dormant accounts,” she said.

The loan, the government said, would be used to fund the 2021 budget.

However, some industry watchers say the policy will dampen investors’ confidence and create uncertainty in the sector.

4) ISWAP insurgents reportedly invade military base in Borno

The Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) insurgents have reportedly seized a military base in the Marte area of Borno State.

Hundreds of government troops and residents were said to have fled as the terrorists sacked the military base in Northeast Nigeria.

But the Nigerian military said it drove away the terrorists and inflicted defeat on them.

A soldier told journalists that the insurgents attacked the military base on Friday night and engaged troops in gun duel till the early hours of Saturday.

He said: “The priority now is to reclaim the base from the insurgents and an operation is underway.

“We took a hit from ISWAP insurgents. They raided the base in Marte after a fierce battle.”

Although the soldier did not disclose the number of casualties recorded in the attack, he added that the military “suffered losses in the incident.”

“Last week, the insurgents attacked the Marte base but were repelled, prompting them to mobilise more fighters for the overnight raid,” the source concluded.

5) Forget 2023: Igbo group tells Tinubu, Atiku

A group which described itself as Pan Nigeria Presidency of Igbo Extraction Coalition, PANPIEC, has asked former vice-president Atiku Abubakar and former governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu to forget about contesting for the presidency in 2023.

The group made the call in a statement by its Director of Planning and Strategy, Chief Pat Anyanwu, after a meeting between the coalition and a northern group, Arewa Power Shift Movement.

The group stated that allowing the Igbo to produce Nigeria’s president in 2023 will heal the wounds of the civil war.

They therefore urged Nigerians to support the campaign for emergence of an Igbo as Nigeria’s president in 2023.

PANPIEC stated that there are many qualified Igbo persons who are qualified to rule Nigeria.

6) I’ve been vindicated that Buhari lacked capacity to rule Nigeria – Fayose

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose claimed he has been vindicated when he said in 2015 that President Muhammadu Buhari lacked the capacity to rule Nigeria.

Fayose was reacting to a report that terrorists captured a military base in Borno.

The military has however debunked the report.

Holding on to the earlier story, Fayose mocked Buhari and his service chiefs, describing the service chiefs as obsolete.

He wrote on his twitter handle: “Less than 4 days after President Buhari gleefully told Nigerians that security situation in the North-East under him is better than what it used to be, terrorists attacked and captured a Military Base in Borno State!

“A whole Military Base captured by terrorists! Isn’t this a “job well done” by the President and his obsolete Service Chiefs?

They are indeed “doing well for keeping the country safer than the President met it.”

“Now Nigerians can appreciate why I insisted in 2015 that Buhari lacked the needed capacity to rule Nigeria.

“As for Nigerians, we are all on our own waiting for God’s deliverance from these taskmasters.”

7) How Was Nigeria Before Buharism?

Ever since he happened presidentially on the national stage five odd years ago President Muhammadu Buhari and his handlers and aides had not ceased bemoaning the past, blaming the national woes on the past (PDP) administrations. While the blame-game goes on the nation slides further into anarchy and chaos, something unprecedented in the democratic evolution of our nation.

He urged his critics to be objective and fair while remembering where and how Nigeria was prior to his ascension to power. Hear him: “Those criticising the administration should be fair in terms of reflecting on where we were before we came, where we are now and what resources are available to us and what we have done with the limited resources….We had to struggle paying debts, investing in road repairs and rebuilding, to revamp the rail and try to get power….This is what I hope the elite when they want to criticise will use to compare notes”.

But the issue or question here is: how was Nigeria before Buhari took the oath of office replacing ex-President Goodluck Jonathan (GEJ)? Was Nigeria a failed state then like now as many observers and critics say now? Was insecurity in general terms as ubiquitous and intractable as now? Was Nigeria then the poverty capital of the world?

8) 2021: Crisis in Aso Rock will shake Nigeria, Niger Delta will clash with Fulani, Governor will die – Prophet Okikijesu

Apostle Paul Okikijesu of the Christ Apostolic Miracle Ministry has claimed in a series of prophecies that God revealed to him there will be a serious crisis in Aso Rock.

According to him, the said crisis will shake the entire nation and affect every soul in the country.

He said there will be a great misunderstanding between the Fulani herdsmen and Niger Delta people.

“Thus says the Lord of hosts: A looming crisis will burst in Aso Rock between January and March 2021. It will have a widespread effect; it will shake the Nation and make people to tremble,” he said in the prophecies made available to DAILY POST.

“Thus says the Lord: People should pray seriously for Aso Rock, because of the crisis that can make every soul in Nigeria to be worried. Write this period down, that is what will happen and there is nothing that can be removed from it, says the Lord God of hosts,” he said.

He further said that a 2023 presidential aspirant will pass on.

He also predicted the death of a sitting Governor, while a woman will take over after much crisis.

“Thus says the Lord of hosts: One of the 2023 Presidential aspirants is about to leave this world, and rest permanently. Three of them are presently sick and they are being treated. If one of them dies, the remaining two sick aspirants will be afraid.

“A male governor will die and the Deputy Governor who is female will assume the position of the Governor of the State.

“Thus says the Lord: They will agree that the woman who is the Deputy Governor should be the Interim Governor. It will be like the case of Jonathan and Ya’radua.

“Thus says the Lord of hosts: The people of Niger-Delta will flare up between February and March 2021.

“Certain things will manifest that will cause great misunderstanding between the people of Niger-Delta and the Fulani Herdsmen,” he added.

9) Reps oppose school resumption, propose three-month postponement

The House of Representatives Committee on Basic Education and Services on Saturday urged the Federal Government to postpone the resumption of schools across the country by three months over the COVID-19 pandemic.

Several states governments in Nigeria had directed schools in their domains to resume academic activities on January 18.

The Chairman of the committee, Julius Ihonvbere, who made the call in a statement titled: “School resumption: Are we truly prepared?,” urged the federal government to review the January 18 resumption date.

He implored the government to postpone the resumption by an additional three months over fears that there are no adequate measures in schools to check the spread of the COVID-19.

The statement read: “We are particularly concerned that when the infection rates hovered around 500 and under, schools were closed but now that it hovers well above 1,000 infections daily, schools are being reopened. Why are we rushing to reopen schools without adequate verifiable and sustainable arrangements to protect and secure our children?

“The committee fully appreciates the implications of continued school closure on the education sector and the larger economy and society. We also acknowledge that the pandemic would remain with us for a while and we must design ways to live with it.

10) Nigerians blame northerners for their problems –Yakasai

A founding member of the Arewa Consultative Forum and elder statesman, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, has said other regions in the country are fond of blaming northerners for their problems when the North has the highest number of poor people.

Yakasai said though the North had produced more leaders compared to the South, it had numerous issues it is dealing with.

Speaking on Thursday at an online conference, themed, ‘The 2nd Never Again Conference: 51 years after the Nigerian-Biafran civil war’, hosted by Nzuko Umunna, an Igbo Think Tank, in partnership with Ovation International and Njenje Media, he said the fractional tendencies in the country must be addressed.

Some southerners have accused the North of ploys to dominate leadership positions and treat other regions of the country as second-class citizens. They have also alleged that the North was against the proposed restructuring of the country because it benefits from the current system, which they believe is unfair and unproductive.

Meanwhile, despite having ruled the country longer than the South, the North is said to have higher number of out-of-school children, higher poverty and illiteracy rates, especially with the Almajiri system.

11) Apostle Okikijesu Releases Shocking Prophecies About Oyedepo, Adeboye, T.B Joshua, Olukoya, Others

According to the cleric, the Catholic Church pontiff is afraid of speaking the truth and fears humans more than he fears God.

He warned that the judgement of God will come upon the Pope if he refuses to turn a new leaf in three months time, adding that the post will be taken from him and it will be given to someone else.

Speaking concerning Pastors Adeboye, Kumuyi and Bishop Oyedepo, he said,

“Thus says the Lord of hosts: I gave them three months to make amendments.”

He said that God expects these men to change their ways as fast as possible and avoid anything pertaining to bloodshed, adding that acting against God’s instructions God will overturn all the good works that they have performed in the past within a minute.

Okikijesu also warned the clerics to abstain from political activities, adding that “If they refuse to take a step, their time to sleep is near/close to them; I the Lord is the One who says so. If I the Lord does not do this, then I am not God again.”

Speaking about Pastor Daniel Olukoya of the Mountain of Fire Ministries, he said that God informed him to notify Olukoya that his works are not perfect “because of the people who surrounded him that are looking for a way to ruin the covenant of Glorious Home in his life.”

On Pastors Adefarasin, Okotie, Bakare, he said, “Thus says the Lord of hosts: Inform Adefarasin that his humility and positive change is what I the Lord desire, so he should take the aforementioned steps.

“Thus says the Lord of hosts: Notify Chris Okotie and Tunde Bakare that what I the Lord is expecting from all the pastors/priests have been previously mentioned.

On T.B Joshua, Okikijesu said, “He should change his conduct and turn to Me. He should repent, so that the judgment of I the Lord will not come upon him within the next three months.”

12) Buratai commends Air Task Force for decisive roles in foiling Boko Haram invasion

Following the ambush by troops of Operation Tura Takaibango against Boko Haram terrorists when they foiled attempted attack on troops’ location at the outskirts of Marte, in Borno State, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Tukur Buratai has commended the Nigerian Airforce whose fighter aircraft made the difference during the encounter.

He urged them to maintain the momentum and expedite actions to ensure speedy final defeat of Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in Nigeria.”

Recall that a planned terrorist’s attack on military location by scores of Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists who stormed Marte in Borno state from several angles, was successfully foiled by troops supported by Air Task Force who destroyed 7 gun trucks and killed several of the terrorists.
