The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC wants former President Goodluck Jonathan to join the party. This has confirmed the rumours that made round that GEJ wanted to dump PDP although he denied it yesterday through his media aide.

The APC has come out to state that the former President is welcomed to the party and will enjoy the rights founding members of the party enjoy.
However, the party gave the former President a condition according to Daily Trust. The APC told the former that he can join APC on the condition that there won't be an automatic ticket for him to contest the 2023 presidential election.

In my opinion, the former President should reject this condition from APC. We will be discussing why I think so in this article.
He may end up regretting it if he joins APC, contests the 2023 APC presidential primary election and lost
For APC to say that there won't be an automatic ticket for Goodluck Jonathan means that he will join other aspirants to contest the 2023 presidential ticket of the party.
He will regret it if he loses the ticket to another aspirant. Those who want to become the 2023 presidential candidate of the APC have started consulting key stakeholders.
Even if Jonathan joins APC today, it will take time before he can build a structure in the party to win the 2023 presidential ticket of the party.

Remember that the national convention of APC is fast approaching and politicians who are interested in grabbing the 2023 presidential ticket of APC are working hard to ensure that their political allies occupy key positions in the party.
If GEJ must join APC then he should insist on getting the automatic ticket of the party. He should know that many people will assume that him joining APC is to contest the 2023 presidential election.
Do you think Jonathan should agree that there won't be an automatic ticket for him if he joins the party?
