Ekweremadu’s Daughter Breaks Silence After Parent’s Sentencing

Sonia, daughter of embattled Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has broken the silence on the sentencing of her father, and mother, Beatrice. The Nation reports a court in the United Kingdom sentenced Ekweremadu, to nine years and eight months in prison for an organ trafficking plot.
Reacting, Sonia said she feels guilty about the conviction of her parents on conspiracy to harvest a human organ. In an interview with BBC on Friday, monitored by The Nation, she, however, disagreed with the conviction of her parents.
Binani Raises Alarm Over Alleged Smear Protest Plot

The Binani Campaign Organisation has raised the alarm over an alleged plot by some politicians to sponsor a weeklong protest against the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Sen. Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed (Binani). It said the protest was conceived by some disgruntled forces to divert public attention from the petition before the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal. It said some Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) have been mobilised with financial resources and other logistics to carry out the protest.
It alleged that the protest was designed to hold in strategic places and Western embassies in Abuja. It alleged that the protesters have been hired to demand the prosecution of Binani over the Adamawa Governorship Supplementary Elections.
Umahi Dumps Senate Presidency Ambition, Backs Akpabio

The senator representing Ebonyi South senatorial district, David Umahi, has dropped his Senate presidency bid. He, however, endorsed Godswill Akpabio, a former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs and governor of Akwa Ibom state. Umahi, the outgoing governor of Ebonyi State and first-time senator, also disclosed that he wasn’t considering the position of deputy Senate president.
Umahi stated that he had met with the president-elect, Bola Tinubu, who asked him not to contest the position in the Green Chamber. He explained this to journalists after meeting with Akpabio on Friday.
Islamic Body Organises Special Prayers For Tinubu, Governor-elect, Others

The Hijrah Organisation of Nigeria in Ilorin, Kwara State has organised a special prayer for incoming administrations at the federal and state levels.
The religious body offered special prayers for all the elected public officers in the last general elections across the board.
The national chairman of the body, Prof. Badmas Yusuf, said the elected public officers, including the president, governors and national and state legislators needed to be supported by prayer for successful tenure of office.
