A member of the house of representatives in River state under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has allegedly revealed the purpose of the money which police officers found in his car in the early hours of Friday morning.
Honourable Chinyere Igwe, according to the Rivers state police command who was arrested after he was found with a cash of 498,000 dollars in his possession alongside with list of places the money will be distributed, alleged that the money was to be used to support the party for the upcoming election.
The member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP noted that he received the money the same day he was arrested, while also claiming that it was the party system who gave him the money for disbursement.
In his words..."The money is what we will use to support our party in this election, and it was the party system that gave it to me, and it was during the day that they gave me"
The police had however noted that investigations will immediately be done, before he is being arraigned in court, as they further urged contestants and political parties to comply with the provisions of the relevant laws.
