According to a report by Tribune, the Governors of the southeast zone on Friday asked all political parties in the country to pick their 2023 presidential candidates from the zone. This message was conveyed by the Chairman, Southeast Governors Forum, and Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, he said all political parties in Nigeria should zone the post to the southeast geopolitical zone of Nigeria for equity and fairness.

Umahi made a case for the South East, he said the zone has sacrificed a lot and must be allowed to produce the next President of the country whether zoning or not zoning. Umahi is right, if politics were just mere zoning to regions in Nigeria, the southeast should produce the next President in Nigeria. But that is not the game of politics in Nigeria. North Central has only produced the Senate President like the South East, they have not been elected as President or Vice president of Nigeria.
Therefore, the southeast should stop demanding for 2023 Presidency, but they should emulate the South West who are united to support a candidate and making necessary negotiations with other parts of Nigeria. Southeast politicians should lobby political parties to zone their presidential tickets to the region and encourage their people to register and mobilize them to collect voter's cards, but not sit down and wait for the 2023 presidential ticket.
They should know that you work and earn it, it is not a privilege. Politics is not trading nor buying and selling where one price commodity. They can learn from how all the political leaders from the southwest are working hard to actualize the 2023 presidency. All the former or serving senators, house of reps, house of assembly, and councilors are working together to actualize the 2023 presidency of Tinubu. Sadly, the same can not be said about the southeast, even though the southeast should be at the front knocking the door for the 2023 presidency in unity.
