Chairman of the Committee, Kabiru Gaya, in his report, said Onochie didn't fulfill the provisions of the Federal Character Principles. The Senate at the committee level all voted against her nomination.
Chairman of the Committee, Senator Kabiru Gaya said the Committee got a few petitions against the nomination of Ms. Lauretta Onochie and Professor Sani Muhammad Adam.
He unveiled that the petitions against Lauretta Onochie were against the background that her association in politics and alleged membership of a political party. You would recalled that many people had rejected her nomination on the backdrop of her involvement in partisan politics, however she denied any wrongdoing.
He clarified further that her selection disregarded the Federal Character Principle as there is as of now a serving National Electoral Commissioner from Delta State, Barr. Mary Agbamuche-Mbu who was screened and affirmed by the eighth Senate.
