Senator Dino Melaye, the spokesperson of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) presidential campaign council in the just concluded 2023 presidential election, has caused tons of reactions on social media as he shared a photo of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chairman with the caption "Professor Mahmood Yukubu Must Resign."
Recall that the outcome of the February 25 presidential election has been marred by controversy, with many individuals accusing the INEC of engaging in illicit actions in the election.
The PDP and the Labour Party, who are two leading contenders in the presidential election, have also rejected the outcome of the election, taking the electoral body to court.
There have also been calls by the People's Democratic Party for the current INEC chairman, Yakubu Mahmood, to resign over alleged involvement in electoral malpractices.
However, Dino Melaye, in the wake of all these happenings, took to his official Twitter handle on Saturday to state that the INEC chairman must step down. Dino alleged that Yakubu Mahmood oversaw illicit practices carried out by the commission in the just concluded elections and therefore deserved to relinquish his position as the head of the electoral body.
Dino Melaye tweeted, "Professor Mahmood Yakubu is required to resign. He has demonstrated his authority over a flawed INEC. Such criminal audacity and impunity undermine the rule of law and diminish him as a referee who scored a goal during a game. Mahmood must leave."

Dino Melaye's allegations against the INEC chairman drew a series of reactions under his comment box on Twitter.
A Twitter user identified as Freedom said, "Nigerians are completely behind you on this. INEC must be questioned. But in which court?"
Ogie stated, "Go ahead and fire him if you can. As if he were the one who told your party to split up and compete on a divided front. He was the one who started the G5 movement, right? My friend, please go back to sleep! Mahmood Yakubu is going to finish his tenure, and nothing will happen! "Keep making noise!"
Tyohule Philip said, "I don't support the PDP or her presidential candidate, but I fully support them on this. INEC has failed to be transparent.
"I prefer Tinubu to power over Atiku, but let the process that brings him to power be determined by the will of the people, not Mahmood and INEC."
