Apparently making his first statement as a senator of the Ninth National Assembly, Ibezim, who took his oaths of office and allegiance on Tuesday, noted that the only solution to insecurity is to engage tge teeming unemployed youths with gainful employment.
"The panacea for insecurity. In the country is employment opportunities.
As long as yourhs are unemployed, insecurity shall remain with us. The only way to fight insecurity is to find ways to create employment for the teeming unemployed youths," Senator Ibezim said at a reception held in his honour in Abuja, the nation's capital.
Speaking particularly about Imo North Senatorial District, Ibezim challenged the elite on the need for peace among them, adding that since government cannot do everything, the elite, should collaborate to find ways to solve the problem of unemployment.
Ibezim noted the urgency of the hour and invited inputs from knowledgeable constituents on he way forward for the zone.
"There is no time to waste. Work has begun in earnest. So, I invite anyone with useful ideas to to take advance the zone tc me forward."
The reception party was well attended by excited constituents and friends of Imo North. Among them were many politicians, who came in their numbers, including commissioners in Imo State, current and former lawmakers. Also in attendance was the Minister of State for Education, Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, the lawmaker, representing Okigwe Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Deacon Chike Okafor, and one of the senatorial contenders and former lawmaker, Hon. Matthew Omegara.
Speaking on the occasion, Deacon Okafor expressed joy with the emergence of Ibezim.
He urged politicians in Imo North to close ranks and rally round the leader for the good of the zone.
