APC Leaders May Kill The Party Before 2023 Except… – PGF DG.

The Director-General of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) Salihu Moh. Lukman has warned that the All Progressives Congress (APC) may become weak before 2023.

According to the PGF DG, the strongest enemy of the APC at the moment is within the party itself, warning that the conduct of some party leaders may spell doom for the APC in 2023.

Specifically, he noted that the APC caretaker committee headed by Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni must conclude its work quickly and hand over party structures to normal organs as contained in the constitution of the party.

Lukman handed down the warning in a statement on Monday titled ‘determining factors for 2023 contests in APC’ noting that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) can only return to power if the APC implodes before 2023 due to internal fights.

He however added that if APC can manage its internal disagreements very well, then it will continue to enjoy electoral victories beyond the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari which expires in 2023.

Makinde is my leader, Fayose declares.

The embers of disagreement between former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose; and Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, seemed to be permanently quenched on Monday when the former declared his submission to the leadership of the latter.

Speaking at the Wocdiff Centre, Osogbo, venue of the Zonal Congress of the Peoples Democratic Party, Fayose acknowledged, “The Governor of Oyo State, Governor Seyi Makinde, my brother, my friend and by the grace of God, our leader.”

The ex-Ekiti State governor also apologised to members of the party not in his faction for all they have all gone through over the years.I and Seyi Makinde are one from the beginning,” Fayose said, praying that the tenure of Makinde as the party leader in the South-West will usher the PDP into a season of great accomplishments.

“Nothing last forever, if I offend anybody, I apologise,” he added.

Of late, the leadership of the South-West arm of the PDP had been embroiled in crisis with Fayose and Makinde at the centre of the ruckus.

Makinde, a first term governor, is the only PDP governor in the South-West zone while the other five states in the region are ruled by the governors of the All Progressives Congress.

The development comes amid claims that Tinubu is nursing presidential ambition ahead of 2023 although he has not publicly confirmed it.

The action further stretches what many believed to be calculated steps taken by the former governor to get the support of the North.

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had last month celebrated his 69th birthday in Kano State.

The decision had generated various comments but Tinubu claimed the move was to prove that Nigeria is one.

In December 2020, he met with some scholars who threw their weight behind his “2023 presidential ambition”. Tinubu had also been to Kaduna and Katsina states, which are among the states with the largest voting populations in the country.

He had also recently donated the sum of N50 million to victims of a recent fire outbreak at Katsina Central Market in Katsina State.

This was even as he paid sympathy visits to traders and other victims of the fire outbreak in company with the state governor, Aminu Bello Masari.
