The People Democratic Party (PDP) South West zonal congress has in Osogbo produce the new zonal chairman in person of Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, the candidate of Engr. Seyi Makinde as the Southwest zonal Chairman of the party. Ambassador Taofeek is former deputy governor of Oyo state under Governor Adebayo Alao Akala and as well former Nigeria ambassador to Jordan.
The congress witness an intense politics and strategy from both side of Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state and the former Ekiti State Governor, Peter Ayodele Fayose. While Governor Makinde presented the candidacy of Arapaja, Fayose on the other hand present the candidacy of Eddy Olafeso.
The election reports have it that, Arapaja got 343 out of the 683 vote cast while Olafeso got 330 with 10 voids votes.
It is then very important to note that, to have a united PDP, Governor Seyi Makinde will need to start his reconciliatory move immediately to stop the exits of many loyal member from the party.
