NDDC: Buhari gets letter demanding Akpabio, Pondei, Ojuogboh's immediate sack.

Godwin Ojeh, a human rights lawyer, has written President Muhammadu Buhari demanding the immediate sack of Godswill Akpabio as the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs.

In a copy of the letter made available to Newspot on Monday, the lawyer also appealed to the President to take necessary steps to end corruption in the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.

By this, he urged the President to remove Prof. Kemebradikumo Pondei and Cairo Ojuogboh from the NDDC Interim Management Committee, IMC.

‘’We passionately appeal to Your Excellency to curb the excesses of Mr. Akpabio by relieving him of the ministerial duties of the Niger Delta.

He has not been a good example for our people. The trending exchange of immoral accusations in the social media which focuses on the minister is a dent on the image of the Federal Government of Nigeria,” part of the letter reads.

In the letter, which was also addressed to the principal officers of the National Assembly, Ojeh urged the Nigerian leaders not to allow the NDDC to go the way of the defunct Oil Minerals Producing Areas Development Commission (OMPADEC).

He emphasized the objectives of the National Assembly Investigative hearing, calling on the legislators not to disappoint the people of the Niger Delta by removing the negative factors that may compromise the NDDC’s noble mission.

The Edo based lawyer pointed out that the ongoing probe of the expenditure by the IMC of the NDDC was not a witch-hunt, adding that the Commission was not the personal estate of Akpabio and members of the IMC

Joy Nunieh, a former Managing Director of the NDDC interim Management Committee, earlier this month, levelled allegations of corruption and highhandedness against Akpabio and members of the current IMC.

In reaction, Akpabio had tagged Nunieh as a woman with character problem.

Since then series of allegations and counter allegations have continued to emanate from the Ministry.

Shehu Sani reacts as Gov Masari reveals those sponsoring Boko Haram, bandits.

A former Kaduna Central district Senator, Shehu Sani has reacted to Governor Aminu Masari’s revelation on those sponsoring Boko Haram and bandits in the northern part of the country.

Newspot had earlier reported that the Katsina State Governor had accused those he described as the enemies of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as being behind the attacks by bandits and Boko Haram in the north.

Masari spoke at a meeting with APC ward and local government chairmen on Sunday.

He said politicians are sponsoring the attacks to make the ruling party look incompetent in order to take over in the next general election.

According to Masari, useful information from community leaders could support the fight against insecurity in the north and other parts.

“Most of the bandits and Boko Haram attacks facing the northern part of the country are sponsored by some politicians who are enemies of the present APC government at both federal and state,” he said.

Reacting to the development, Sani in a tweet on his official Twitter page on Monday, urged Masari not to make excuses when he has failed.

He said: “To Governor Masari; Bandits are killing in PDP controlled states of Sokoto, Zamfara and Benue; Bandits are Killing in APC controlled states of Niger, Kaduna and Katsina; Thou shalt not maketh excuses when thee hath failed.”

NDDC probe: Pondei was auditioning for BBNaija - Omokri.

Reno Omokri, former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan has described the video of the acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Kemebradikumo Pondei where he fainted during his appearance before the House of Representatives Committee as fake.

Pondei slumped while being grilled by members of the committee led by Thomas Ereyitomi over alleged financial mismanagement of the NDDC.

The acting MD was noticed to have fainted while one of the committee members was talking, which eventually disrupted the sitting as efforts were made to revive him.

Reacting, Omokri said that the drama displayed by Pondei shows that President Buhari’s administration is corrupt.

According to him, from the video making the rounds, Pondei raised his hand at some point.

The former presidential Spokesman mocking Pundei, said his drama looked like he was auditioning for Big Brother Naija, BBNaija.

Omokri on his Twitter page wrote: “Did the MD of the NDDC really faint? I doubt it. Watch as he used his hand to hold the guy trying to resuscitate him. Someone who ‘fainted’ doesn’t do that.

“Maybe the NDDC MD was auditioning for #BBNaija? I‘m a long-distance runner. I have seen people faint. No one faints and then puts up his hand to stop the person resuscitating him.

“When I said “under General @MBuhari corruption is official”, this is what I meant!”
