There is no respite for embattled Deputy Governor of Ondo state, Hon. Agboola Ajayi as a series of calls have been made for his disqualification from the Governorship primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
This is as a chieftain of the PDP in Ondo state Barrister Konstante Timi Olopele, has called on an Akure High Court to disqualify Hon. Agboola Alfred Ajayi, from taking part in the Governorship primary of the PDP slated for Wednesday next week.
In the suit seeking the disqualification of Ajayi filed by Barrister Akpofiwei Anthony Macleans of AMAC Solicitors, Barr. Olopele noted that Hon. Ajayi infringed on the code of conduct for public officers and therefore should be banned from holding any public office for a maximum period of ten years.
Barrister Olopele said he acted in violation of Section 1, 5th Schedule, Part 1 of the Code of Conduct for Public Officers and at the same time Section 9 of the 1999 constitution of the country as amended.
He said his disqualification prayers are based on the violation of the provisions of Cap W4 Law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as contained in the regulations of the West African Examination Council (WAEC) Act.
He continued stating that Ajayi contravened the extant provisions of the West African Examination Council (WAEC) and the attendance laws of the Nigerian Law School.
He noted that these laws were breached by Ajayi while he served as elected Local Government Chairman and member of the Federal House of Representatives respectively.
In the same vein, a socio political group, the Sunshine Redemption Group (SRG, has also demanded his disqualification from the PDP Governorship primary
The group made this known in a statement by its Chairman, Mr. Emmanuel Agbara, and Secretary, Chief Ebiemi Williams, who said that Ajayi's disqualification became necessary for submitting only a secondary school certificate to contest the governorship election.
Ajayi, who only recently became a member of the PDP has come under fire for allegedly forging his Law degree and Law School certificates.
