Since last year 2020, the office of EFCC Chairman has been vacant owing to the suspension of the formal boss Mr. Ibrahim Magu the formal acting chairman of EFCC.
Recall that the formal EFCC Acting chairman Mr. Ibrahim Magu has been suspended from office as a result of corruption charges which was traced to him. Due to the sensitive nature of this office, a substantive Chairman needs to be appointed to over see the affairs of this Commission.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Mr. Femi Adesina, The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, disclosed that "President Buhari requests Senate to confirm Abdulrasheed Bawa as EFCC boss."
In a letter written to the Senate president, Mr. Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan for the confirmation of Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa, the President said he acted according to paragraph 2(3) of Part 1CAP E1 of EFCC ACT 2004
Brief History of Mr. Bawa
Mr. Bawa is a well-trained investigator who has gone round the globe. He is a seasoned Investigator with vast experience in Fraud cases, money Laundering cases. He is a graduate of Economics and also has a Master degree in public relations. To add to his credit, he has undergone several trainings which made him stand out in all aspects of life.
Although the Senate is yet to confirm him as the substantive Chairman of EFCC BOSS, but with all these portfolios, one is certain that he is qualified to head such sensitive sector.
Let me blow your mind a little, Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa was once a pioneer of EFCC In the year 2005, and we do hope that his confirmation will make a difference in the commission.
