5 Leaders David Mark Needs In Order To Clinch PDP Chairman's Seat

Mr. David Mark, one of the most experienced lawmakers in the country, would want to throw his hat into the ring so as to occupy the vacant office in the PDP national secretariat. The Nigerian Tribune listed him as one of the few top politicians who have shown interest in having the seat. He needs some main leaders if he is really determined.

The former senate president wouldn't have it on the platter of gold. There would be some oppositions, but with the backups of the top leaders, be would be able to claim the seat and win the coveted office located at the Wadata Plaza Secretariat of the party.

Mr. Mark needs to have a serious and frank talk with the Benue State governor, Mr. Samuel Ortom. It is pertinent to state that Mark would fail to get the seat if he doesn't get the support of the Benue State governor because charity begins at home. And at the same time, victory needs to start at home.

If he can secure the support of the state governor, he should just move on to approach the immediate past president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan. The former president still has some stakes in the party and he will always be reckoned with as far as the political party is concerned.

Jonathan and David Mark have some cordial relationship which was solidly built when the People's Democratic Party was still in power. Hence, David Mark can use that privilege to launch himself into the secretariat of the People's Democratic Party.

The southwest region can't be underestimated. Although the political party doesn't have much power in the Yoruba land, it is worthwhile to note that delegates would come from the region and David Mark should consult Mr. Seyi Makinde. The Oyo State governor is the only PDP governor in the whole Yoruba land. And he will be leading the PDP delegates to the convention along with Mr. Taofeek Arapaja.

The Sokoto State governor, Mallam Aminu Tambuwal should also be consulted. While David Mark was the Senate President, Tambuwal headed the lower chamber of the National Assembly. Hence, they would still have a great deal of rapport which would be useful now. Mr. Tambuwal is the chairman of the PDP governors forum.

Lastly, Mr. David Mark needs Nyesom Wike, the Rivers State governor although Mark shouldn't totally depend on him so that he can't be under the control of the Rivers State governor. David Mark could have abandoned Wike, but it couldn't be denied that the Rivers State governor is far beyond underestimation.
