1) Another Nationwide Strike Begins Today.
NARD gave the reason why they went on strike in a message posted on their association’s Twitter account known as "@nard_nigeria".
They stated that Nigerians must understand that NARD love them and the strike is not intended to hurt them but to challenge the Nigerian government responsibilities to care for her citizens and labour force to do the needful.
2) INEC Announces Date To Resume Continuous Voter Registration.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday, announced that the continuous voter registration (CVR) exercise will resume by 28th June, 2021.
According to the INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu who made the announcement during a press conference in Abuja, the exercise will be done nationwide and will continue till the first quarter of 2022.
He noted that the registration will be done in line with COVID-19 guidelines and protocols.
Yakubu however pointed out that Anambra State will be given priority attention at the moment because of the governorship election coming up in the state.
Naija News reports that INEC has scheduled the Anambra governorship election for Saturday, 6th November.
3) "51 million Nigerians Enroll For NIN" -FG.
The Federal Government on Thursday revealed that over 51million Nigerians have now been enrolled for the National identity number.
"Naija News" reports that this was disclosed by the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Pantami, during the weekly ministerial briefing organized by the Presidential Media Team, at the presidential villa, Abuja.
Pantami warned that failure to obtain the NIN could lead to between seven or 14 years imprisonment as stipulated by the Nigerian Constitution, no one should enjoy government services without the number.
According to the minister, registration for NIN is not optional, but a mandate by law.
He also warned that failure to enroll precludes defaulting citizens and residents from operating certain functions like using banks and communication services.
4) Gunmen Attacks Sango's home.
Gunmen suspected to be bandits have attacked the residence of a former Minister of Sport, Damishi Sango, in Plateau state.
The incident occurred around 10:00 pm on Wednesday at Danwal, Ganawuri in the Riyom Local Government Area of the state.
It was learnt that Sango’s two security details and a boy were shot during the attack while their rifles were carted away by the bandits.
Gabriel Ubah, spokesman for the state police command confirmed the incident.
