Parent-child relationship is one that is very unique and treasured by parents and their children. This has made it difficult for many children to cope with life and face the reality of losing a loving parent.
This is the case of Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State whose strong relationship with his late mother, Hajia Hauwau Bello has been demonstrated on different occasions when his mother was alive and after her demise.The Kogi Governor couldn't hide his feelings of facing the reality of life without his loving mother and shed tears profusely as his mother was laid to rest.
Bello's strong bond with his mother was one that was known publicly and he couldn't hide it either whenever he was with his mother.
The Governor's mother on the other hand, never seized any opportunity to pray for his son whenever she was with him for God to protect him and guide him to lead the people of Kogi State well.
Born June 18, 1975 in Agasa, Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello was the last born of his late mother. He was raised by his late mother after his father died when he was still young. This could explain the strong connection between the Kogi Governor and his later mother.
Yahaya Bello emerged the first Kogi Governor from Ebiraland in 2015 after he was substituted to replace late APC governorship candidate in the election, Prince Abubakar Audu who died while coasting to victory.
Bello then proceeded to win the rerun election and defeated the then incumbent Governor of the state, Captain Idris Wada.
Bello emerged the youngest Governor in Nigeria at the age of 40 years and sworn in as the 4th executive Governor of Kogi State on January 27, 2016. Bello won his reelection on November 16, 2019 Kogi State governorship election with 406,222 votes and defeated his closest rival, Musa Wada of PDP with a wide margin of 216,518 votes.
