In the past few months, some parts of Nigeria have been ravaged by the recurring challenges of insecurity as a result of the illegal activities of killer Fulani herdsmen, bandits, the dreaded Boko Haram terrorist in the Northern region and unknown gunmen in the South East region. This development has claimed lives and properties both government-owned and private worth millions of Naira.

However, the APC led federal government of President Muhammadu Buhari is doing everything possible through the collaborative effort of security forces to tackle the menace of insecurity. The Nigerian government has spent millions of Naira to boost the military capabilities by acquisition and deployment of advanced and sophisticated weapons in the fight against insurgency and insurrections in the country.
Although the situation seems to be escalating on a daily basis as there is no day the media do not report attacks on innocent citizens by the aforementioned criminal gangs in the North East and West as well as the South East, where unknown gunmen have caused us more harm than doing us any favour.

Having said that, the Nigerian President has in recent times taken a bold step that could end the menace of insecurity and insurrections in Nigeria and why he should be commended for the commitment to bring these criminals to their knees. From the foregoing, this article seeks to discuss why the federal government should be appreciated for its efforts to end insecurity as mentioned earlier.
As a matter of fact, the President had in a statement as reported by Premium Times while reacting to the killing of over 30 people in Goronyo in Sokoto State some days ago (Sunday) by bandits, warned them against their criminal and illegal activities saying they would not have any place to hide any longer as their days are numbered. It may interest you to know that the foregoing was made known in Abuja on Monday through the presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu.

Indubitably, the aforementioned is a step in the right direction as Nigerians are always eager to hear the President address issues affecting the country which in turn gives hope that things would change in a matter of time. And with intensifying efforts by the Nigerian troops in the Northern trenches, it signals the end of the menace soon.
On the other hand, the federal government of President Buhari had some days ago made it clear that it has taken delivery of the final batch of the 12 A-29 Super Tucano fighter jets expected from the United States. This was made known by the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed as contained in a report by Premium Times. According to the report, all the 12 Super Tucano fighter jets have been deployed to the North-east where bandits and Boko Haram terrorists have turned it into a battlefield.

It is arguable to say that the Tucano jets would change the situation in the Northern trenches in the ongoing fight against insurgency. According to Alhaji Lai, most of the successes recorded in recent times are because of the acquisition of "...the super Tucano."
At this juncture, it is convincing that the Nigerian government through President Buhari is not relenting efforts in the fight against insurgency and other crimes in the country, and with the recent development and steps taken by the President, he should be commended as insecurity would soon be a thing of the past if the recent development is sustained.
It could be concluded that all hope is not lost as the continued fight against insurgency in the country has taken a new dimension as peace and security would prevail in the end.
