The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reportedly advised Nigerian politicians to accept election results, whether they win or lose, according to news stories published today by Punch Newspaper Online. To ensure free, fair, and credible elections in Nigeria, the INEC has taken action. Politicians should admit defeat and congratulate the winner as a result. According to INEC, politicians must behave politely throughout the electoral process, and disputing every election result in court is detrimental to Nigeria's democracy because it is costly and damaging.

Asserting that doing so would not restore their authority, the Independent National Electoral Commission or INEC spokesperson also cautioned politicians from contesting election results in court. Politicians should truly accept the outcomes of every election rather than contest them in court. Additionally, because they have a significant impact on how the public feels and perceives elections, media practitioners are required to be impartial and professional in their coverage of elections.
