As the ruling All Progressives Congress is preparing for it's National Convention, There are Prominent Politicians to watch out, precisely those may succeed Mai Mala Buni as National Chairman. Six Notable Ex-Governors perceived as leading Contenders in the Race include

Ali Modu Sheriff

The Ex-Governor of Borno State played a key role in the formation of the APC. Sheriff is banking on his Rich Political Experience, Deep Pocket and cordial relationship with Mai Mala Buni to achieve his National Chairmanship Aspiration. Recently, He has been consulting critical Stakeholders in the party to seek their support.

George Akume 

As One of the Few Politicians who have been serving since 1999, Akume has the required Political Expertise to lead the APC. Also, he belongs to the ACN Bloc of the ruling party. Thus, he might be supported by the APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and a host of other APC Chieftains from the South.

Abdulaziz Yari 

Apart from his Rich Political Experience as a Former ANPP Zamfara State Chairman, ANPP National Secretary, Ex-House of Representatives Member and a Two-term Governor, Yari was a One-time Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF), a position that gave him a lot of influence among his Former Colleagues and Serving Governors. 

Tanko Al-makura

The 69years-old Businessman turned Politician has a bright chance of emerging as the next APC National Chairman because he may enjoy the backing of President Muhammadu Buhari due to the fact that he belongs to the CPC Bloc. Meanwhile, if he eventually emerges, Al-makura would be the first APC National Chairman from the CPC caucus of the ruling party.

Danjuma Goje

Like Akume, The Gombe State-born Goje has been holding political positions since 1999. He is an highly respected politician with a national clout, having previously served as a Minister, Two-term Governor and currently a Third-term Senator, Some believe Goje has the Political Experience the run the affairs of the ruling party. 

Kashim Shettima 

He is a prominent Ex-Governor turned Senator, Kashim Shettima enjoys the backing of his Successor, Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State. Meanwhile, it is believed that he has the Political Experience and Antecedent to lead the APC.
