President Muhammadu Buhari has named the railway complex in Agbor, Delta state, after former President Goodluck Jonathan.
This was made known by Chibuike Amaechi, minister of transportation, who announced this on Saturday 18th July 2020.
Former President Jonathan, an Ijaw man from the Niger Delta area had 5 years to build and complete most of the projects President Mohammadu Buhari is doing today.
GEJ should have taken it upon himself to develop the Niger Delta, an area that produces most of the revenue used to run the entire nation but its still an area that lies in ruins.
The East West road, Enugu Port Harcourt express way, Enugu Onitsha express way, Second Niger bridge, Enugu international airport, railway network and Ports in the Niger Delta area that are just there as ports but are not functional like Lagos ports.
These are some of the projects that President GEJ should have ensured that they were all started and completed within the 5 years he spent in office as commander in Chief.
But he couldnt and this has given President Buhari the opportunity to become the hero of the people since he is doing these projects earnestly.
According a report by The Cable "The railway complex in Agbor is the centre of operation which connects the Itakpe-Warri rail line. It is joined by Benin to Onitsha rail, among other segments of the country.... cuts across most states in the south-east and south-south"
It was initiated by the government of GEJ, handled by China Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC), but just like most of the projects, Buhari is the person showing seriousness to continue and complete it.
Therefore the naming of the Train Station in Agbor after Goodluck Jonathan will always prick the conscience of the former president, why didnt he use his 5 years in office to start, complete and take the glory of these projects.
The naming of this railway station means Buhari loves the Niger Delta more than their own son.
It means Buhari and his team are dedicated to the infrastructural development of the Niger Delta. Make no mistake about that.
