Oyo/Osun Customs Command Apprehends 3,052 Bags of Foreign Parboiled Rice
The Nigeria Customs Service, Oyo/Osun area command, on Thursday, said it has seized 3,052 bags of foreign parboiled rice with a duty paid value of one hundred and twenty-four million, four hundred and seventy-seven thousand, four hundred and eighty-eight naira.
The customs area controller of Oyo/Osun area command, comptroller Adamu Abdulkadir, disclosed this in Ibadan while briefing newsmen on the successes recorded by the command in its fight against smuggling.
Abdulkadir explained that in the course of the command's anti-smuggling duties, 60 bales of second-hand clothing, 246 pieces of used tyres, and 10 units of motorcycles used as means of conveyance for smuggling of rice were also apprehended.
On revenue generated, the Oyo/Osun customs comptroller disclosed that the command was able to collect four billion, eight hundred and ninety-five million, seven hundred and seventy-two thousand, seven hundred and sixty-nine naira, ninety kobo for the month of January 2021.
Comptroller Adamu Abdulkadir, however, vowed that the command will leave no stone unturned by going after those revealing customs personnel movement and operations to smugglers.
