N Power Volunteers Protest In Abuja

Since the news of exit and transition to entrepreneurship scheme broke out last month N-Power volunteers have been airing their displeasure on how the ministry of humanitarian affairs, disaster management and social development has treated them poorly.

After spending three and two years for batch A and B respectively, the ministry of humanitarian affairs plans of transition was not favourable to these graduates who have diligently carried out their duties. Earlier this week the minister confirmed GEEP loan as the exit package for both batches and this loan will only be disbursed to successfull applicants who passed psychometric test.

The way and manner the ministry has handled the exit and transition to entrepreneurship scheme is a clear indication that the minister has no good plans for the N Power program, how can a program that takes a small portion of unemployed youths from the labor market for a few years with a meager stipend of #30,000 thereby providing immediate solutions for a while and then throw it's beneficiaries back to the labor market achieve the vision of President Muhammadu Buhari of removing 100 million Nigerians from poverty.

Outgoing N power batch A & B beneficiaries yesterday protested in Abuja seeking for permanent employment or tangible exit package. Fortunately for them they were told by NASS representative to come back next week Thursday 23/7/2020
