I’ll Promote Unity—Tinubu
The President-elect, Bola Tinubu, has promised that he will promote unity in Nigeria and be fair to all.
Tinubu made the promise while inaugurating the Magistrates’ Court Complex in Port Harcourt on Thursday, built by the Governor Nyesom Wike-led administration.

While commending his host for the edifice, he stated that what the governor had done was a way of fighting corruption by making the judicial officers more comfortable.
He stated, “I think a different angle to what Wike has done here today is fighting corruption. This is the way to fight corruption. You don’t expect your judges, and you have been contributing very well to this.

The presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the past general election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has expressed happiness over the return of the first batch of the stranded Nigerians in Sudan.

Thousands of constables who were recently recruited into the Nigeria Police Force have not been paid salaries for the past four months.
The recruits passed out of the police training institutions on December 29, 2020, and have not been paid since then despite resuming at their duty posts across the country.

Speaking to SaharaReporters, one of the affected officers said that the situation had demoralised many of them as they were finding it difficult to meet their responsibilities to their families.
He added that most of the constables were "surviving on bribes and extortion" due to the delay in the payment of salaries.
According to him, they have been reporting at their respective duty posts without pay since January 2023.

Chief Bode George, a former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has tendered an apology to Igbos over the anti–Igbo comment made by a former Director of Publicity for the Presidential Campaign Council of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bayo Onanuga.

George who tendered the apology at his residence while receiving a delegation of the Lagos State chapter of Anya-Ndi-Igbo, a non-partisan, Igbo socio-political and economic development-oriented organisation, cautioned Onanuga to be careful or he would be banned from Lagos.
Recall that Onanuga had during the election threatened Igbos against interference with Lagos State politics, warning them to mind their business and stay clear from Lagos politics or be dealt with. Onanuga had gone ahead to say that he owes no apologies for his threat.
Why I can’t refund Wike on flyover — Tinubu
The President-elect, Bola Tinubu said he has not been sworn in as the President and could not refund Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike on the flyover project commissioned in the state on Wednesday.

While commissioning the Rumuola-Rumuokwuta flyover yesterday, Tinubu told his host, Wike: “I owe you nothing”, stressing that the infrastructure is to be enjoyed by residents of the state.
The remark has become a subject of debate in the media space and the former Lagos state governor explained hours later that people could interpret his statement as whatever they like but he has no power until he assumes office.
He clarified his statement during a banquet in his honour on Wednesday night on what he called the banter with Wike, noting that it has attracted a lot of reactions on social media.
