In a recent interview with Arise News, Daniel Bwala, the Spokesperson of the Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Council, revealed that the United States visa ban imposed on individuals involved in election malfeasance confirms that the 2023 presidential election was rigged. He stated that the United States action towards electoral offenders shows that the presidential election was marred with irregularities and electoral misconducts.
Recall that, the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar had challenged the outcome of the presidential election saying that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was unconstitutionally declared winner of the election, he made his allegations legal by suing to court the All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Due to legal procedures, the case of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was postponed to May 18th, 2023.
Bwala alleged that this ban serves as a strong indication that the 2023 elections were marred by flaws. However, he strongly believes that a significant number of those affected by the ban are government functionaries, including governors, ministers, heads of public firms, and individuals acting on behalf of the government.
He said, “The United States (US) visa ban for perpetrators of election malfeasance re-emphasizes the fact that the 2023 elections were flawed. The majority of these select individuals are government functionaries like governors, ministers, heads of public firms, and individuals acting on behalf of the government.”
