Mr Reno Omokri, a former aid of the ex president of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan, has reacted to the recent social media rant about Lagos being a “no man's land," as alleged by some social media users.

In his post, Mr Reno first of all analyzed the history of Lagos State, starting from the time the Portuguese arrived in Lagos, citing that Lagos is a Portuguese word for lagoons, and that most of the Yoruba words allegedly originated from Bini.
He also noted that the current Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, admitted on video which was made available to Channels Television that he and his lineage are of Bini origin, and so did Oba Akitoye of Lagos, who wrote a letter in February 24th 1851 to the then British consul, John Beecroft, clearly stating that Lagos is under the Bini suzerainty.
Therefore, Reno came to a conclusion that Lagos is not “no man’s land”, citing that when the Bini people allegedly got to Lagos, they met the Awori people and other people who he said are now loosely known as the Yoruba people.
However, the post by Mr Reno sparked mixed reactions among many of his followers as many of them took to the comments section to slam him while also giving their reasons to refute his own story about the history of Lagos State, while a host of others totally accosted his analysis and also gave their reason for accepting his own history of Lagos State.
