Yesterday, President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Usman Alkali Baba as the new Inspector General of Police. He replaces Mohammed Adamu who was in Owerri, the capital of Imo State speaking to his men when the news came that he has been replaced. Today, Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo decorated Usman Alkali with his new rank as the IGP of Police in Abuja. The was a short and brief event in Abuja as the VP was seen with the help of other government functionaries decorating the new IGP who is also from Northern Nigeria. Some hours after he was decorated, the new IGP was received at the Nigeria Police Force headquarters in Abuja. From the video shared by Punch newspaper on it's official and verified Twitter handle, Usman Alkali was welcomed into the Nigerian Police Force Headquarters with a parade. Also two horses were seen in his entourage as he was driven in an SUV. There after he came down from his official vehicle and was saluted by police officers who were in the parade uniform of the Nigerian Police. With that ceremony, Usman Baba Alkali has official assumed duty as the new IGP in Nigeria. We wish him a successful tenure.
