Dele Farotimi, a Nigerian Lawyer and a Civil Rigjt Activist has alleged that the Lagos State government has shrugged from its responsibility in tackling agberos and thugs in the state. The Lawyer speaking in an interview with Arise Tv stated categorically that the same sect of people who plotted to kill him a few years ago are the same individuals he saw threatening the Igbos in Lagos state.
Dele Farotomi alleged that Nigerians can no longer keep quiet over the impunity going on in the system, he elucidated that this is why a lot of people came out to vote on Election Day in a large number. He summarises that the reign of thuggery has to come to an end in the Nation if the country want to develop. Farotimi stated that he finds it shocking that all the Thugs spotted on footage threatening voters on the Election Day have not been arrested.
He said, ''Over two years ago, I sat in this same studio and I announced to everyone that there was a murder plot over my life. And this was after I had submitted petitions to the DSS and to the State commissioner of police. Up till date, nothing has been done. It will interest you to know that the same people who plotted to kill me are the ones threatening the Igbos in Lagos.
This is the first time in a year that I will see armed Soldiers protecting this studio and this is supposed to be free Press. So we are dealing with a crazy situation even though we might pretend that we are dealing with normalcy. But there is nothing normal about our situation at the moment. People cannot come it and vote in a free and fair election.''
