Minister Ask Contractor to Stop Delaying Project On The Kaduna-Zaria Road

Its very common in the country to see very important projects been delayed overtime. You see bridge maintainance, road constructions, and maintainances been dragged. This can be very annoying, and often atimes one wonders what actually is the contactors problem.

The Minister of State for Works and Housing, Abubakar Aliyu has insisted that the contractor handling the road construction of the Eastern by-pass, of the Kaduna-Zaria Dual Carriageway, has no excuse not to complete the project in good time.

He said the delay in getting the work ready is putting more financial burden on the government. The contract for the construction of the Eastern By-pass, a section of the Kaduna-Zaria dual carriageway project, was awarded in 2002 but was abandoned until 2017 when it was re-awarded with 2021 as the deadline.

Aliyu expressed concern over the speed of work. The initial cost of the project was N16 billion, but due to delays and the high cost of materials, it has skyrocketed to the tune of N38 Billion Naira.

The Minister stated this during an inspection tour to ascertain the level of work done on the project.
