In my opinion, every man makes an ally of his best and trusted men. Hence, when your Deputy Governor and Secretary to State Government (SSG), suddenly turn their back on you, something is really wrong.
I am sure that it came as a surprise to many when the Deputy Governor Ajayi, of Ondo State cross-carpeted to the People's Democratic Party (PDP), and purchased the form for their Governorship primaries and many members of the House of Assembly backed him.
Even more, a couple of days after Governor Rotimi Akeredolu declared that he was down with the coronavirus, the deputy Governor, didn't waste time in giving the ailing Governor a 21-day ultimatum, to hand over the reins of leadership to him, on the grounds of his ill-health and this caused many Nigerians question the true intent of the Deputy Governor of Ondo State.
Couldn't they have given the Governor some time, before demanding the transfer of power?
Or was the Deputy Governor expecting the worst to happen to his principal?
Even more, the Secretary to the State Government, Ifedayo Sunday Adegunju, spoke up against his former boss and even indicted himself by stating that he(Ifedayo), helped Gov. Akeredolu rig the election.
In other climes, this statement would be investigated, as the former SSG, brought himself to book by his own statement.
In all of these, the bitter truth remains that there are no permanent friends or foes in politics, hence, every politician should treat allies and non-allies with a long spoon, as best friends could very quickly become worst enemies.
God bless Ondo State.
Dear Friends, What is your view, on this issue of discussion?
Do you think Gov. Akeredolu, may have acted in a manner that elicited this kind of betrayal?
Your comments, help to shed the much needed light on issues, as important as this.
