According to Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party's presidential candidate, "the manipulation of the rule of law and the suppression of the will of the people are effective methods for destroying societies. These methods will be used in the February 28th Presidential and National Assembly Elections."
On the eve of the Saturday governorship and state assembly elections, which had been rescheduled, he made this statement in a letter to Nigerians.
According to vanguard, Obi pleaded with Nigerians in a letter headed "A new Nigeria is again feasible on the 18th of March" to not let the INEC's mistakes during the February 25th presidential elections deter them from coming to the polls on Saturday to cast their votes in the governorship and state assembly elections."
Part of Obi's letter stated, "On February 25, 2023, millions of Nigerians from all walks of life, from Bornu to Lagos, Port Harcourt to Sokoto, Kano to Enugu, Taraba to Ondo, voted strongly and decisively to take back their nation."
Vanguard reported that, "They chose to support the Labour Party and a New Nigeria! I would want to express my sincere gratitude to every Nigerian for their continued dedication and true belief that we can create a new Nigeria. Yes, it is feasible and has already begun."
According to him, "We traveled around Nigeria, one of our most blessed and stunning countries, during the campaigns. We spoke with you, listened to you, and took notes, and we were especially moved by the sheer number of young Nigerians who gave so fervently of their time, money, and lives."
Vanguard further reported, "We can no longer be a silent majority if we all believe in equity, justice, and fairness as well as a better nation. Not only is a new Nigeria possible, but one is already taking shape. Nigeria will triumph and rise! The Federal Republic of Nigeria and you all be blessed."
