NIN Registration:See the Major Reason Why the Nigerian Federal Government is Taking Fresh Steps
The latest policy was made known in the course of a meeting of the ministerial Task Force on the NIN-SIM registration headed by Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy .
In the course of the meeting, the federal government consented to the extension of the tenure of National Identity Number(NIN)enrolment Agent Licenses for MNOs from one year to five years.
An official statement signed by Ikechukwu Adinde, Kayode Adegoke, Director, Public Affairs Head, Corporate Communications, Nigerian Communications Commission and Nigeria Identify Management Commission, respectively, disclosed that the procedures were to make enrolment process easier for agents of NIN.
It was reported that the Technical Committee was ordered to complete the development of a new SIM issuance policy that is foolproof unlike in the case of the past process that was compromised by means of pre-registration by some criminal agents.
However, the purpose of the latest policy is to "bring SIM Swap Centres closer to Nigerians irrespective of their location.”
