A Nigerian Professor, Charles Egbu, has been appointed Vice-Chancellor of Leeds Trinity University. According to a statement on the UK Varsity website, he will take over from Margaret House, who will be stepping down after seven years.
The president felicitated with the professor, who hails from Anambra State and is the first black person to be appointed to head a ranked university in the UK.
The president’s media adviser, Mr Femi Adesina, said the president urged Egbu to continue to proudly keep the flag of Nigeria flying in all his endeavours in the elevated position.
He urged him to continue to proudly hold the flag of Nigeria aloft in all his endeavours in the elevated position.
Buhari, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, urged the new vice chancellor, who would assume office in November, to build on the strong foundations laid by his predecessors at the university, where he is equally an alumnus.
Egbu is the first black vice chancellor of Leeds Trinity University and perhaps the first ever of any United Kingdom University or College.
