Nunieh's House Detention: Questions That Needs Urgent Answers

The drama emanating from the probe of the Niger Delta Development Commission seems not to be ending any sooner. It should be recalled that the activities of the commission has been under probe by the house of representatives following various allegations of misappropriation of fund by the commission. N40 billion accrued to the commission was alleged not to be accounted for.

In the fore front of the probe is Senator Godswill Akpabio, the minister overseeing the commission and Ms Joy Nunieh, the former Managing Director of the commission.

Early this week, there were accusations and counter accusations between the two gladiators. Akpabio accusing Nunieh of not carrying him along in the affairs of the commission and Nunieh accusing Akpabio of appropriating unrelated expenditures into the commission's budget.

Not done, the former Managing Director in an open interview, accused Akpabio of sexual harassment, which the minister countered.

Early hours of Thursday, news broke out that the former M.D was under house detention, surrounded by armed police men.

Reports have it that it took the intervention of Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike to rescue her from the detention.

Ms Joy Nunieh was billed to appear before the Adhoc Committee probing the Commission at Abuja but was prevented to travel by the detention.

The questions in the lips of many Nigerians that demands urgent answers are;

1. Who authorized the house detention?.

2. Did the order come from a court of law or an individual?

3. What do the perpetrators intended to achieve?

4.Is there something some persons are trying to cover up?.

5. Will the probe ever see the light of the day?

These questions and some others that readers may want to add, needs urgent answers, at least to be guided and also to keep the records straight.
