yesterday, the political landscape of Nigeria especially Ogun State politics was shaken with the announcement of the death of Distinguished Senator Buruji Kashamu who represented Ogun East Senatorial District in the 8th Senate of Nigeria. The Senate presided over by Dr Bukola Saraki.
Buruji Kashamu was a wealthy politician, Powerful even in physical stature, controversial, a Philanthropist and a popular Socialite. The Ijebu Igbo born Politician lived life to the fullest and fought many wars successfully but could not fight death when it came calling.
May His Soul rest in peace.
In the past few months, death the ultimate leveller has shown the powerful and Mighty in Nigeria that after all, life is vanity.
Death won over the likes of Mallam Abba Kyari, the most powerful Chief of Staff in the 4th Republic Nigeria.
Death took away the Ibadan born Senator and two term Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi.
Death struck Lagos politics and took away Senator Oshinowo even the powerful Northern Businessman Isa Funtua was not spared the fang of death and many more.
COVID -19 is still raging and fighting furiously to decimate the world, but we pray that it will never visit our Households and the Merciful GOD will rescue the world from this dreadful corona virus.
Death is reminding the Nigerian powerful politicians and Public Office Holders that though they can escape the fangs of EFCC and escape justice, but they cannot escape the justice of Death.
Mr. Death is reminding the powerful Office Holders that though they can escape extradition to the USA or extradition from the UK but they cannot escape extradition to the world beyond.
Politicians and public Office Holders that have wrecked Nigeria and turned our young ladies to prostitutes in Europe, those that stole our common wealth and made thousands of our youths unemployed and underemployed, that Civil Servants will work like Slaves and have no salary at the month end, pensioners that continue to die in droves for non payment of pension dues, while Governors amass billions of Naira and Senators do little work but amass fortunes.
Let them remember that it is all vanity and Vanity upon Vanity is all Vanity. Death is lurking in the corner for the powerful.
Yes, life is vanity, adieu Senator Buruji Kashamu.
